(In passing I'd mention that I much preferred the art-paper feed of the Pro9500 to that of the Pro-1 - it was extremely precise, and never fed cockeyed as the Pro-1 sometimes does.) About my old misadventure with Error Message 88, rest assured that my settings were correct for the paper - they were the same as I'd been using for quite some time without trouble. So I still bear a grudge against UPS – less for the clod(s) who ignored the indications all over the box of “fragile”, “printer with inks – do not turn over”, arrows, etcetera, than for a company that is willing to cheat customers. Clearly it had been turned over in shipment by some incompetent UPS person, in the UPS center near Milan that handles Canon Italy.) Adding insult to injury, UPS responded to my complaint by denying the obvious and insisting that the shipping carton was not up to standard – while it was Canon’s original carton and polystyrene forms, in good shape. The prospect gives me nightmares, since a past experience with shipping a printer (my old Pixma Pro9500) ended in a very expensive and embittering disaster: when it arrived at Canon (at my expense), the Canon tech people found ink all over the place inside the printer and the carton. Canon Support adds only that, if the problem persists, service is necessary.

Predictably, the Pro-1 User Manual says nothing to the point. I tried the obvious – turn off/on the printer, delete and remake the Print Job, check the setting many times – they are the same that worked only a few days before.
